Offer description

At American Express, our culture is built on a 175-year history of innovation, shared values and Leadership Behaviours, and an unwavering commitment to back our customers, communities, and colleagues. As part of Team Amex, you'll experience this powerful backing with comprehensive support for your holistic well-being and many opportunities to learn new skills, develop as a leader, and grow your career.

Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.

How will you make an impact in this role?

At Enterprise Digital, we place enormous emphasis on users and usability. With our mix of assets like payments, rewards, benefits and members only perks, we are re-imagining how commerce and experiences converge in a modern, digital and connected world.

The Application Experience Platform team sits at the heart of Amex's digital acquisitions ecosystem. We enable Journey Product Teams across markets to build and scale application experiences through reusable, configurable and modular platform components. Our mission is to accelerate innovation by abstracting complexity - allowing Journey teams to focus on delivering customer value while the Platform team delivers the scalable foundations that make it possible.

We are seeking a hands-on, technically fluent Product Manager who is passionate about building platforms that underpin the digital application experiences used by millions of customers across Amex's global ecosystem. You'll champion the 'platform-as-a-product' mindset and work in close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders including application journey experience product teams, engineering, analytics, design and go-to-market teams.

You'll have a real passion for using technology to build user-centric solutions to challenging problems, for bold decision-making and for digital innovation. You'll enjoy being challenged in a fun, collaborative, diverse and inclusive team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Champion the platform product vision - define and communicate a clear strategy for reusable components and shared services that power application experiences globally.
* Build for scale and configurability - design products that balance flexibility & configurability for local markets with the efficiency of centralized capabilities.
* Drive adoption and value realization - establish metrics and frameworks to measure platform impact (e.g., reuse rate, integration speed, delivery acceleration)
* Collaborate across functions - partner with journey PMs, architects, and engineering to ensure architectural compliance, technical feasibility, and reusability.
* Prioritize with clarity - own and maintain the product backlog, aligning priorities with shared business outcomes.
* Evangelize platform-first thinking - influence stakeholders across markets to adopt platform capabilities and reduce fragmentation.
* Ensure technical excellence - work closely with engineering to maintain modular architectures, clean separation of concerns, and best-in-class developer experiences.
* Continuously discover opportunities - identify areas where platform-team can improve speed-to-market, scalability, and cross-journey consistency.

Minimum Qualifications:

* A systems thinker who sees patterns across journeys, markets, and products.
* 3-5 years of experience in product management, with at least 2+ years in platform or technical product roles.
* Strong collaboration, relationship and stakeholder management skills - you will be the evangelist for your product's strategy and roadmap but will not be successful without bringing others along with you. Your ability to listen deeply, contextualize your insights are essential to achieving the best outcomes.
* Interdisciplinary experience - in addition to the standard product functions of design and engineering, you have experience working on/with platform teams, solution architects, analytics, and go-to-market teams.
* Excellent written & verbal communication skills - You're able to simplify complex concepts, articulate the reasons behind your work and bring others along with you.
* Energized by ambiguity and driven to create clarity and impact.
* Experience working in agile environments with cross-functional delivery teams.
* Exposure to digital acquisition or experience platforms is a plus.
* Fluent in the language of architecture and engineering (e.g., APIs, microservices, databases etc.) and a passion for building scalable systems that empower partners to innovate faster.
