Victoria Hospital

Fixed Term/Secondment Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 5 suitable candidates to work as a Clinical Frailty Assistant within the Frailty Team at the front door and within the newly established Acute Frailty Unit of the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy for a fixed term until the end of March 2026.

Frailty identification and management has been identified as a significant priority for NHS Fife to optimise patient outcomes. The Frailty team provides comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment for patients who are identified as having frailty syndromes, to ensure effective identification of patient pathways and destination of care is reached in a timely manner.
You should have experience as a healthcare support worker or therapy support worker, as well as recent experience of acute hospital care, with a genuine interest in working with older people and a keen desire to develop within the service.

This post will be based within the Frailty Team who provide cover to all front door areas of the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. These include the medical and surgical admission units, the emergency department and the Acute Frailty Unit. The team currently works 12.5 hour shifts, providing cover 365 days a year from 7am-7.30pm, but this may be subject to change, so flexibility of working is a requirement for this post.

Fixed Term/Secondment Opportunity

Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager. The secondment policy can be found here If you do not have approval for a secondment from your current line manager, you will not be able to progress your application for a fixed term post. External applicants, with continuous NHS Service, must also have in place a secondment agreement, from their existing board to apply for this post.

For further information or to arrange a visit please contact Lisa Wood, Clinical Nurse Manager on 01592 643355 ext 20083 or Lorna Brocklesby, Occupational Therapy Manager on ext 21646

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.
As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the websitehere.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsoredBEFORE submitting your application form.
We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
