Technical Field Service Engineer An exciting and immediate vacancy for an IT Technical Field Service Engineer (Communications Hardware) to support our facility in our Templecombe operation. Successful candidates must be SC Cleared or eligible for SC Clearance, with the view to progressing to a higher level clearance if required. The Role: Reporting to the Field Services Team Lead, you will be providing technical support to Thales' Integrated Airspace-protection Systems (IAS) delivered products. You will undertake fault diagnosis, reporting of incidents and performing corrective maintenance in response to any and all incidents reported by our customers. You will also be required to occasionally travel to customer sites to install and test new equipment, as well as provide on-site support. This will also involve some occasional overseas travel, as and when required. In addition, you will also be required to assist in the preparation, and rollout of hardware and software improvements to maintain a high level of availability to Thales' products. Main Responsibilities: • Undertake scheduled maintenance of equipment, including hands on fault diagnosis and repair. • Manage the servicing and repair of COTS equipment • Undertake inspection of equipment, and partake in testing under project guidance • Provide 1st & 2nd Line Support to Thales' global customers on the correct operational use of the installed systems • Resolve and report all user queries concerning the operation of the equipment • Escalate issues through the relevant channels to ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner • Provide, where needed, local on-site management of approved subcontractors • Liaise with management and support teams in order to provide user feedback to the business • Identify potential enhancements to the current, and future products • Occasionally attend customer sites to Install & Commission new or replacement equipment under project guidance About You: • Ability to self-manage and prioritise time and tasking • Extensive knowledge of PCs & peripheral equipment failures, diagnostics & repairs • Experience in supporting complex Electro/Mechanical systems • Experience with networking (LAN & WAN) diagnostics & repairs • Competent in using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint), as well as Windows 10 Tools • Competent knowledge of Windows Server OS (Server 2019 onwards) • Ability to generate and deliver timely, and accurate reports concerning the condition of equipment • Current full UK Driving Licence is required • Basic electronic engineering skills It would be ideal if you were to have experience of working in a military/MoD environment, supporting Mission Support Systems.
