Trainee Learning Support Assistant – Supporting Children with SEND – Wirral

New Directions Education are looking for compassionate, dedicated and reliable individuals to train and work as Learning Support Assistants in primary and secondary schools across the Wirral, supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Location: Wirral
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Flexible, long-term and short-term roles available
About the Role:
You’ll work closely with children with a range of additional needs including autism, speech and language difficulties, learning delays and physical disabilities. Your role will include:
1. Building trusted, supportive relationships with pupils
2. Helping children focus and engage in learning
3. Supporting with emotional regulation and communication
4. Working 1:1 or in small groups under the guidance of teaching staff
5. Promoting independence, confidence and a positive school experience

Job Specification
Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.
We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;
15. NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
16. NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
17. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
18. CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
19. BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing).
We’ll also consider experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
29. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
30. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
31. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
32. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
33. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
