Join Our Team as a Workshop Service Engineer
We are seeking a keen and experienced service engineer, fitter, technician, or mechanic to join our team at Nationwide Platforms.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced in powered access engineering, or perhaps a car mechanic, plant fitter, or similar, looking to do something different.
As a Workshop Service Engineer, you will work within a busy depot to inspect, repair, and maintain our machines, ensuring they are ready for customer use. Our machines include booms and scissor lifts, and full training will be provided. If you have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and some mechanical/electrical engineering experience, this role could be perfect for you.
We offer a competitive salary, life assurance (x2 contractual salary), Westfield healthcare plan, 25 days holiday, and a pension. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the Senior Service Engineer in the effective operation of the depot workshop.
2. Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) of machines at client premises and depot, ensuring compliance with manufacturer’s specifications, company policies, and safety regulations. Report any defects or unsafe equipment.
3. Repair machines at depot or on-site to meet manufacturer standards and company policies.
4. Carry out planned maintenance and maintain the fleet's appearance to corporate standards.
5. Handover machines to customers and train them in safe operation following company procedures.
6. Provide excellent customer service, act as a company ambassador, and relay customer queries to depot staff.
7. Complete all relevant paperwork accurately, including engineer’s reports, off-hire, inspections, and service sheets.
8. Update system records regarding machine status changes, such as PDIs, repairs, and statutory inspections.
About You:
* Relevant general engineering maintenance qualification, preferably NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Experience in diesel engineering, auto electrics, hydraulics, and fault diagnostics.
* A mature outlook with the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
* Understanding of excellent customer service standards.
