Title: AI Engineering Research Assistant
Location: London, UK Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Description:
We are seeking an experienced Research Assistant to support ongoing work in the artificial intelligence and machine learning domain. The role will focus on building, testing, and improving AI agents, with a strong emphasis on generative AI and large language models (LLMs). You will work closely with engineers and technical leads to design experiments, refine prompts, and ensure robust system performance.
Responsibilities:
Develop and refine test prompts to optimise AI agent behaviour.
Debug and implement agent tool calls within a Python/PHP stack.
Build and manage internal benchmarks for AI agent performance.
Conduct systematic testing of AI agents, document outcomes, and provide insights.
Analyse and interpret results, collaborating with the wider research and engineering team.
Navigate and contribute to medium-scale Python codebases.
Requirements:
Essential:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
2+ years experience in prototyping, testing, or research within ML, deep learning, or NLP.
Proficiency in Python (intermediate level; ability to navigate multi-file codebases and write clean code).
Familiarity with AI agent frameworks such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) or LangChain.
Exposure to large-scale software system architecture.
Desirable:
Direct experience in generative AI and LLM research.
Experience with open-source AI libraries.
Knowledge of SQL and database interaction.
Hands-on experience with version control systems.
