Key Responsibilities Include: Deliver timely, high-quality legal and regulatory advice in areas such as subsidy control, procurement, commercial law, health and safety, governance, land law, transport law, and employment law. Draft and negotiate complex legal agreements and documentation. Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients, local authorities, government departments, and commercial partners. Support the Monitoring Officer and Senior Lawyers on complex legal matters and decision-making processes. Manage and communicate externally commissioned legal advice effectively. Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal practices and procedures within the team. Skills, Knowledge And Expertise We’re seeking a proactive and collaborative legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, public sector environment. You’ll be someone who can balance technical legal expertise with strong interpersonal skills, and who is motivated by the opportunity to contribute to meaningful change in the region. You’ll Also Bring: A current practising qualification as a solicitor, barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive. Experience in one or more relevant legal specialisms (e.g. subsidy control, procurement, commercial law, governance, transport law). Strong legal drafting, analytical, and strategic thinking skills. The ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to a range of audiences. A commercial mindset and the ability to apply legal knowledge in a practical, solution-focused way.
