Responsibilities
* Conduct and manage Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (where appropriate) (LIAs) and Transfer Impact Assessments (where appropriate) (TIAs) on group projects and other processing of personal data.
* Support the processing of data subject rights requests and third‑party data requests.
* Investigate and respond to data protection‑related complaints from data subjects (consumer and colleague).
* Work closely with other business areas to support internal and external audit teams in conducting data protection audits.
* Deliver training to colleagues and increase awareness across the group on data protection related matters.
* Investigate personal data breaches, identify remedial actions and manage the data breach register.
* Monitor compliance with data protection‑related policies and processes, including conducting regular internal compliance checks.
* Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience within the team and for the wider business.
* Responsible for keeping the Records of Processing Activities up to date.
* Support the DPO with implementation of the data protection strategy and other data protection work.
* Maintain expert knowledge of data protection and privacy law, regulation, practices and related guidance in relevant jurisdictions.
Essential Qualifications
* One to three years’ experience in a similar role.
* Excellent in‑depth knowledge of UK data protection law and related privacy practices.
* Excellent in‑depth knowledge of the PECR.
* Experience managing and evaluating DPIAs and other impact assessments (LIAs and TIAs).
* Experience managing and processing data subject rights requests.
* Previous in‑depth experience of handling customer complaints effectively.
* Experience of successfully managing, investigating and remediating personal data breaches.
* Demonstrable experience of successfully managing a small team.
* Able to work individually and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
* Experience of organising and planning your own workload, with an ability to prioritise tasks to meet competing deadlines.
* High standard of literacy and effective written communication skills for writing letters, reports, policies, procedures, briefing and meeting notes.
* Experience of developing and implementing projects and processes.
* Good understanding of information security principles.
* Ability to work autonomously and with respect for reporting and escalation procedures.
* Ability to advise commercially and pragmatically on advisory work.
* Excellent communication skills with an excellent command of spoken and written English.
* A positive "can do" attitude.
