The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled glaucoma specialist doctor to join our dynamic team at MaidstoneEye Hospital. This is a part-time role, 2 days per week (20h/pw). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our NHS medical glaucoma service, providing both clinical and surgical assistance. This position requires a compassionate professional with a deep understanding of glaucoma management and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose, evaluate and manage patients with existing and undiagnosed glaucoma along with other ocular conditions.
* Perform diagnostic tests and procedures such as visual field assessments, optical coherence tomography (OCT), VOLK, CCT and gonioscopy.
* Provide management plans for existing glaucoma referrals.
* Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients.
* Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
* Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to service development initiatives.
* Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
* Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding glaucoma management and treatment options.
What You’ll Need
* Medical degree from a recognized university
* Valid GMC registration with a license to practice in the UK
* Experience in ophthalmology, particularly in managing glaucoma cases and ability to work independently
* UK NHS Glaucoma clinic experience
* Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
