Role overview
Ripon Group, one of the largest John Deere dealers in the UK, is expanding its Professional Turf division and is seeking an experienced and motivated Area Sales Manager - Turf to support growth across a significantly expanded sales territory.
We are growing our Area of Responsibility (AOR) to include Burnley, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a developing region, building strong commercial relationships across the golf, sports turf, council, utility and professional landscaping sectors. You will work closely with customers such as golf courses, local authorities, grounds teams, utility companies and contractors, supplying industry‑leading turf and golf equipment.
You will manage your own diary, visit customers at their premises, and use our advanced CRM system to prioritise your workload, generate new business, and achieve sales targets.
Essential Duties:
* Represent Ripon Group in the sale of Professional Turf and Golf machinery across the expanded AOR
* Build relationships with golf courses, councils, utility companies, and professional turf customers
* Manage the full sales process using John Deere tools and dealership systems
* Maintain up‑to‑date product knowledge and attend manufacturer training
* Provide finance guidance for new and used machinery purchases
* Monitor competitor activity and report key insights
* Conduct field demonstrations of professional turf and golf equipment
* Oversee machinery deliveries and carry out customer follow‑up
* Grow existing accounts and develop new business opportunities
* Collaborate with Sales Specialists when needed
The ideal candidate will have:
* Proven sales experience (turf machinery, golf, agriculture or related industries preferred)
* Strong knowledge of professional turf and golf equipment
* Confident using CRM systems and digital sales tools
* Familiarity with John Deere and competitor products
* Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
* Analytical, commercially minded, and driven to expand market share
* Organised, honest and able to manage your own schedule
* Willingness to work extended hours when required
