About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Student Support Mentor to join a specialist SEN school. This is a highly rewarding role supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

As a Student Support Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement in learning, helping them to build confidence, resilience, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring support to pupils with SEN/SEMH needs
  • Support students with emotional regulation using de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, understood, and supported
  • Work closely with teaching staff to support engagement in learning and classroom activities
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies and support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning
  • Contribute to safeguarding, wellbeing, and pastoral support across the school

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEN, SEMH, or a care/support setting
  • A calm, empathetic and patient approach
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable learners
  • A genuine passion for supporting students’ emotional and social development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
