We are seeking a Manual Centre Lathe Turner to work on our 6 metre gap bed lathe and Vertical Borer. You will be joining an experienced team of both manual and CNC centre lathe turners. You will receive full training and support on our products and methods of manufacture to assist you in settling into the role. Main duties Precision turning of shafts, sleeves, tubes, flanges, hubs, fabrications and forgings using manual lathes and Vertical borer. Operating the machine to an acceptable production target whist maintaining a high standard of quality. Performing First Offs and checking Quality. Machine daily checks. Working with the manager and supervisors to fulfil the Company's policies and business objectives. Making a positive contribution to maintaining a workplace that is healthy, safe, neat, and tidy. Person Specification Fully Time served centre lathe machinist used to working on gap bed lathes up to 6 metres in length. Must be able to work to component drawings and adopt awareness to critical dimensions and surface finish – training on Alken Systems product will be given. Experienced in machining a wide variety of materials but you will predominantly be machining mild steel and stainless steels. Knowledge of ISO based quality control systems would be beneficial. Used to working to fine tolerances. Able to work under own initiative or as part of a team. Flexible, courteous, friendly, and positive approach. Apprenticeship and/or Engineering qualifications are preferred.
