This role is responsible for all technical aspects of grid interconnection for international Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects throughout their lifecycle. This includes ensuring compliance with relevant grid safety standards, technical specifications, and dispatch requirements to facilitate successful interconnection and commercial operation
Key Responsibilities:
Grid Compliance & Assessment:
* Understand and apply grid codes/standards, including grid-forming technology and grid support requirements. Conduct grid impact analyses such as load flow, stability, and short circuit analysis, proposing technical solutions and mitigation measures.
Grid Coordination & Communication:
* Act as the main technical contact with Transmission and Distribution System Operators. Manage the grid application process to secure connection agreements, technical approvals, and necessary permits.
Grid Compliance Testing & Acceptance:
* Organize and oversee pre-commissioning grid compliance testing, including primary frequency response, reactive power control, and fault ride-through (FRT) capabilities. Ensure the system meets operational requirements and prepare documentation for final grid acceptance.
Other:
* Provide technical support during project phases (construction, commissioning, operation) and assist with grid-related technical issues
Job Requirements:
Education:
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Work Experience:
* At least 5 years of experience in power systems, grid operations, or renewable energy/BESS grid integration. Experience with large-scale BESS grid connection projects is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in power system analysis, grid stability, and dynamic response.
* Familiarity with BESS technology (batteries, PCS) and its power system application and control.
* Proficiency in power system simulation software like PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E.
* Knowledge of international grid codes and standards (e.g., UK G99, EU, North American NERC, or Australian standards).
* Competencies:
* Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills; ability to work across time zones and travel internationally to project sites as needed.
