Overview
Structural Clinical Nurse Specialist role at Barts Health NHS Trust, based at St Bartholomew's Hospital. Fixed Term (12 months). Band 7. The post holder will deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with structural heart disease.
Responsibilities
* Have excellent communication with patients, their families, colleagues, and the multidisciplinary team.
* Manage a caseload of patients with structural heart disease from initial referral to follow-up after their intervention procedure.
* Work autonomously and collaboratively in Consultant-led and Nurse-led Structural clinics.
* Be a ward-based member of the Structural heart team; review patients pre- and post-intervention and provide support to nursing staff.
* Be an active member of the valve multidisciplinary team meeting; advocate for patients and enact MDT plans.
* Undertake regular teaching, training, and mentorship of the nursing team in the care of structural heart disease patients.
* Actively participate in and promote research, service improvement and development.
* Based at St Bartholomew\'s Hospital (Barts Heart Centre).

Job Description & Person Specification
The post requires a registered nurse with appropriate cardiac experience and post-registration training. The role includes essential and desirable qualifications, experience, knowledge, and skills as listed in the person specification.
Essential qualifications — Registered Nurse; BSc or equivalent; relevant post-graduate cardiac course; mentorship/post-registration teaching.
Desirable qualifications — Master\'s degree or equivalent; physical assessment course or willingness to undertake; experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist; research and audit experience.
Experience — 5 years post-registration; 2+ years at AFC Band 6 or Band 7 within cardiology; experience caring for patients with heart valve disease; evidence of teaching and mentoring; experience in patient education; clinical and operational management experience.
Skills — excellent communication, ability to work in a team and autonomously, prioritisation and caseload management, strong written and spoken communication, leadership and organisational abilities; familiarity with writing SOPs and managing change (desirable).
