Offer description

Tucked away in Dalry, Mount Pleasant is more than just a house. It is a vibrant, nurturing space where young people can feel safe, supported, and ready to take their next steps. We focus on building positive relationships, encouraging community involvement, and helping young people grow in confidence. Whether it is friendships, life skills, or future plans, we work together to make sure every young person has the chance to thrive.

As a Relief Support Practitioner with CrossReach Children & Family Services, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people to feel safe, valued and included within a nurturing and therapeutic environment.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children and young people overcome challenges, build positive relationships and achieve the best possible outcomes. Working as part of a holistic team, you will contribute to the delivery of high quality care and support that reflects the values, ethos and professional standards of CrossReach.

At CrossReach, we believe in creating environments where children and young people feel listened to, respected and supported. Through relationship-based and trauma-informed practice, we work to strengthen confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing while promoting inclusion and relational health.

What you will do

In this role, you will:

1. Provide high quality care and support to children and young people within a residential setting
2. Support children and young people with their emotional wellbeing, daily living skills, education and community activities
3. Build positive and trusting relationships using therapeutic and attachment-informed approaches, including P.A.C.E. principles
4. Work alongside Keyworkers, families and external professionals to help meet the individual needs of children and young people
5. Support the development and implementation of care plans, risk assessments and positive outcomes
6. Promote communication and inclusion for children and young people, including those experiencing emotional distress or social isolation
7. Encourage and support children and young people to participate in hobbies, physical activities and learning opportunities
8. Contribute to reports, records and daily logs in line with organisational policies and professional standards
9. Promote a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for children and young people
10. Work flexibly across shift patterns, including sleepover duties where required

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with experience within care and/or education who brings a reflective, person-centred and relationship-focused approach to their practice. You should have good communication, planning and recording skills, alongside the ability to build positive relationships with children and young people. A commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people is essential, as is an understanding of attachment-informed practice. You should also be confident using IT systems and able to work effectively as part of a team. A full driving licence is essential for this role. Applicants should hold, or be willing to work towards, the qualifications required for SSSC registration, including HNC Social Care and SVQ Level 3.

Why work for CrossReach?

Our benefits include:

11. Flexible relief working opportunities
12. Access to training and ongoing learning opportunities
13. Supportive team culture with regular guidance and supervision
