Position Summary
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Support Worker, looking for a new challenge? Do you have the skills to be part of a unique and established 24‑hour service, providing urgent and unscheduled care? Are you passionate about supporting patients with a wide range of clinical needs?
We are looking for an experienced Clinical Assistant to work as part of the MedOCC Clinical team. The job encompasses a variety of clinical skills such as assisting with the rapid review of patients, taking bloods and cannulation, along with non‑clinical duties such as daily stock replenishment, equipment care and medication stock checks.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the rapid review of patients, take blood samples, perform cannulation and carry out other clinical procedures.
* Carry out non‑clinical duties including daily stock replenishment, equipment care and medication stock checks.
* Support the day‑to‑day running of the service, working autonomously while undertaking daily administrative tasks.
* Assist with highly skilled assessments such as DVT pathway Wells score, D‑Dimer testing, INR tests and report findings to the doctor or nurse.
* Observe and assist patients, providing first aid and basic life support as required.
* Understand the role in emergency situations and initiate emergency procedures where necessary.
* Assess appropriate treatment aids such as crutches and slings, ensuring safe use of equipment through teaching and demonstration.
* Recognise and alert clinicians to unwell or deteriorating patients in the waiting room.
* Supervise junior assistants, students, workplace‑experience students and visitors to the service.
* Assess patient condition through basic observations, test results and patient comfort.
