Coatings Specialist – New Product Development required based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Requiring recent, proven industrial experience of developing coatings (related to plastics or materials is desirable), including UV coatings and lacquers.

This role will suit candidates that have recent, proven industrial experience in the coatings industry, with desirable experience being in UV coatings and lacquers, particularly relating to products that are plastic, or material based. 5 hours per week, 9am – 5pm Monday – Thursday and 9am – 3pm on Fridays. 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays. Develop and optimise coating formulations and techniques
Design and implement novel water-based inks and primers, enhancing performance and sustainability across products.
Conduct laboratory experiments and testing to evaluate the properties and characteristics of films and surface coatings.
Work with production personnel and provide technical support and assistance as required to resolve production and quality issues in support of new and existing products.
Assist in the evaluation of raw materials, suppliers, and vendors to ensure compliance with quality standards, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability requirements.
Willingness and flexibility to travel as required for customer visits, training sessions, and industry events and work after hours as needed to support trials and customer requirements.
Recent, proven industrial experience of developing coatings (related to plastics or materials is desirable), including UV coatings and 2K lacquers
Knowledge and/or experience of new product development (NPD), process safety, optimisation and improvements
