Job Description:
Rappahannock Community College (RCC), founded in 1970, provides high-quality educational and training opportunities throughout a 12-county service region an hour east of Richmond on the beautiful western shore of the Chesapeake Bay with access to fresh local seafood and water activities. RCC delivers accessible and affordable educational opportunities, including for-credit transfer and career technical programs, robust distance education coursework, quality dual enrollment courses, and award-winning workforce training and credentialing programs. RCC’s annualized enrollment of 3,700 credit students in 2024-2025 and almost 800 workforce and community development students are supported by almost 140 full-time employees and over 200 part-time/adjunct employees across two main campuses and five satellite sites. This is a full-time, classified staff position, with an excellent benefits package. The anticipated salary range will be $60,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience. This position is located on the Glenns campus. Reporting to the Dean of Institutional Excellence, the Research Analyst is responsible for providing essential data analytics in support of overall data governance for the college. This includes providing analyses on information from the college’s student information system and other systems, and managing the college data governance systems to produce meaningful and useful data and reports. This position also aids in the development of data visualizations and dashboards using Power-BI, SAS Visual Analytics, Tableau, and/or similar tools. The incumbent will assist the Dean in the collection, reporting, and analysis of external and internal surveys. This role will also participate in providing necessary data and reports for college accreditation purposes and strategic planning. Minimum Qualifications:

1. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of statistical analysis packages/software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, or STATA) to develop and maintain interactive dashboards and data visualizations
2. Considerable knowledge of structured query language (SQL), research methodology, and statistical and analytical techniques
3. Ability to analyze user requirements and develop dashboards, reports, and other BI applications according to specifications using tools such as SQL, Python, R, or BI platforms
4. Ability to transition static reports into data visualization and dashboards using PowerBI, SAS Visual Analytics, Tableau or similar tools
5. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate data findings via written reports, clear presentations to individuals and groups, using creative visualizations
6. Demonstrated ability to analyze data and develop reports for both internal and external audiences
7. Demonstrated ability to use emerging analytics and AI‑assisted tools
8. Demonstrated computer skills in Windows Office applications, including advanced skills using Access and Microsoft Excel to manipulate, summarize, and effectively present data
9. Experience in survey research, design, and analysis, including use of Survey Monkey.
10. Ability to independently manage multiple projects effectively
11. Exceptional analytical, planning, and organizational skills
12. Excellent relationship building and collaboration skills
13. Excellent oral and written communication skills
Additional Considerations:

14. Experience with data extraction and analysis in an educational setting
15. Familiarity with enterprise student information systems such as PeopleSoft or Banner
16. Conducting survey research using online survey platforms
