The Role As a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, you will play a key role in delivering specialist care, particularly in hip and knee procedures. You’ll benefit from a supportive clinical environment, with minimal on-call responsibilities shared across the orthopaedic team and first-line cover provided. Key Responsibilities * Perform a wide range of elective orthopaedic procedures, including: * Primary hip and knee replacements * Knee arthroscopy * Carpal tunnel release * Joint injections and aspirations * Additional minor procedures aligned with your expertise * Deliver high-quality care across the full patient pathway: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative * Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care * Support and supervise junior clinical staff * Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and service improvement initiatives * Participate in teaching, CPD, and departmental development About You To be successful in this role, you will have: * GMC Specialist Registration in Trauma & Orthopaedics * Proven high-volume surgical experience, such as: * 250 primary hip/knee replacements or * 500 arthroscopic procedures over 3 years * Strong clinical outcomes supported by NJR (or equivalent) data * Excellent theatre efficiency and patient care record * Strong communication and teamwork skills * A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement * Flexibility to meet service and productivity goals What’s on Offer * Competitive salary (£130,000 – £140,000) * Private pension with employer contributions * Flexible working arrangements * Extensive wellbeing and lifestyle benefits * Ongoing professional development and career support * Modern, well-equipped working environment
