Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker - Salisbury
Join us as a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
We are seeking passionate individuals to join our team based at Fountain Way, Salisbury. Our unit, Ashdown, is a 6-bedded male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit that cares for individuals with high-level mental health needs requiring intensive nursing support in a safe environment.
Healthcare Support Workers on Ashdown work as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet the clinical, environmental, and social needs of our service users. Our role involves working collaboratively to empower individuals in their recovery and facilitate their progress through the care pathway. Experience in healthcare is desirable but not essential.
Supported by training to complete the NHS Care Certificate and a Level 3 Healthcare apprenticeship, you will support service users in various aspects of their care. The ward operates 24/7, requiring shift work including evenings, nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays, with enhancements for unsocial hours.
Your responsibilities include:
1. Delivering high-quality care and recovery interventions.
2. Supporting with fluids, nutrition, physical wellbeing, and personal care.
3. Assisting with financial or accommodation issues.
4. Escorting service users on leave within hospital grounds and the community.
5. Encouraging discussions to support emotional wellbeing.
6. Maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
7. Providing psychosocial interventions to promote wellbeing.
8. Participating in care planning, risk assessments, and record keeping.
9. Understanding the Mental Health Act (1983) and Mental Capacity Act (2005).
We are committed to diversity and encourage applications from all backgrounds, including those from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities, individuals with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ applicants. As an NHS employee, you will benefit from a pension scheme, generous leave, and the rewarding experience of making a difference.
