Overview
As part of the management team you will be responsible for supporting management team and the department in ensuring the effective and efficient provision of quality management systems around the service. You will be ensuring the promotion of clinical quality and quality of service within all areas of the Laboratory to ensure that the service is fit for purpose and meets the needs of service users.
Responsibilities
* Support the Clinical Biochemistry management team in the day to day running of the laboratory system and ensures that the laboratory becomes progressively more effective in quality terms, meeting where applicable, regulatory and accreditation requirements for United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), Human Tissue Authority (HTA), and all other relevant statutory and regulatory bodies.
* Co-operates and collaborates with Trust Quality, Health & Safety Audit, Control of Records, Freedom of Information (FOI) and Clinical Governance Departments.
* Liaises with UKAS, MHRA, HTA, and other relevant bodies.
* Ensure the quality of the analytical service is maintained to UKAS ISO 15189:2022 standards.
* Liaises and works closely with departmental Team Leaders and Laboratory Managers within the discipline of Chemical Pathology.
* Ensure that pathology policies and procedures are in place to form and maintain the Chemical Pathology's Quality Management System. This shall include but not be limited to: control of documents, control of records, control of clinical materials, recording and management of audit and nonconformities, recording and management of feedback, procedures for validation and verification.
* As part of the quality team, engage with inspectors/assessors, to explain and demonstrate the functioning of the Quality Management System within Chemical Pathology.
* You will have extensive HCPC Registration experience and with knowledge of NHS Pathology and Quality Management experience
* You will be one of the main leads for quality in the department, ensuring an efficient delivery of quality management systems to all areas of the laboratory including affiliated IT systems. You will need to have good communication skills and interpersonal skills to motivate and support the staff within the department.
* Have good knowledge and experience of clinical safety. In coordination with the laboratory management team, liaise with service users regarding quality of service, to ensure that "customer satisfaction" is developed and maintained.
* Ensure that the departmental quality management system is aligned to the Pathology and wider Trust systems, e.g., providing information on quality indicators for Trust quality dashboards and service improvement.
* Ensure the quality of the analytical service is maintained to UKAS ISO 15189:2022 standards.
Qualifications
* Extensive HCPC Registration experience.
* Knowledge of NHS Pathology and Quality Management.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and support staff.
* Good knowledge and experience of clinical safety.
