We have two highly regarded brands; SiS which combines world-class science and innovation to provide optimal performance nutritional solutions for professional athletes, sports and fitness enthusiasts and the active lifestyle community. This includes over 320 professional teams worldwide across a broad range of sports including Football, Rugby, Cycling, Athletics, Basketball, Netball and Swimming. Brand ambassadors include former track cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, an eleven-time world champion and six-time Olympic champion, and Eilish McColgan, who won gold in the 2022 Commonwealth Games 10,000 metres.
PhD Nutrition is a premium, active-nutrition brand for the active lifestyle community wanting intelligent nutrition to help them achieve their goals. With over 20 years of research and development, our products are designed to maximise performance in and out of the gym. It’s an exciting time for PhD Nutrition as 2025 will kick off an entirely new line up of brand ambassadors, from hybrid athletes to qualified sports nutritionists.
The two brands sell through the phd.com and scienceinsport.com digital platforms, third-party online marketplaces including Amazon, as well as extensive domestic and international retail distribution.
In 2022 the company opened a state of the art 160,000 square foot manufacturing and logistics facility in Blackburn, Lancashire. Providing a significant advantage in product costs and customer response time and most importantly, allowing Science In Sport to lead the way for quality standards.
Science In Sport is a Performance Solutions partner to globally recognised elite teams, including Tottenham Hotspur, Saracens Rugby, British Triathlon, Aquatics GB, British Cycling, England Netball and Loughborough Sports. As well as being the Official Energy Gel Provider of RunThrough and the Official Nutrition Partner of Ultra X.
The Role
Purpose of the role is to maintain the premium brand for SiS and PhD at Science in Sport with ensuring the company’s policies, practices and plans are legal and ethical with selling outside of the UK & EU, supporting all exports, labelling requirements, artworks, regulations. You will work closely with Manufacturing, NPD, Supply Chain, Quality and Technical collaborating on achieving the shared goal of Science in Sport being the number one performance nutrition brand in the industry.
We want to give an ambitious, hard-working graduate, with an interest in sports & nutrition, the opportunity to gain valuable experience and knowledge and become a central part of our dedicated Compliance team. To do this, the ideal candidate would need to be enthusiastic, keen to learn, self-driven and highly motivated. Experience in the food industry would be desirable, but as this position is an entry-level post, experience is not essential; however, determination and passion are non-negotiable!

The work - Your 4 most important responsibilities
* Support the business in ensuring raw material and finished product safety and compliance.
* Create and maintain accurate regulatory documentation and databases
* Co-ordinate and complete relevant logistics compliance/market access paperwork.
* Provide truthful and precise compliance support to both internal and external stakeholders.
Accountability – what you are responsible for delivering
* Writing and maintaining finished product specifications, and supporting with the review and approval of raw material specifications
* Supporting in the collection and review of technical data pertaining to new product and existing product development
* Ensuring the product portfolio maintains a high level of accuracy and legality, in compliance with any relevant legislation, to minimise risks wherever possible. Including, but not limited to, product formulation reviews and label creation.
* Provide critical business support with nutritional, regulatory and compliance queries from both internal and external partners, customers, and authorities.
* Actively support logistics compliance, by competently co-ordinating and completing relevant export documentation.
* Proactively review, maintain and update comprehensive nutritional information databases, documentation and records to ensure all data is accurate and up to date at all times.
Capability - the skills and behaviours required to do this job well
* Qualification in Nutrition, Food Technology, Food Law, Food Science, Food Safety, or other related subject.
* Experience in UK, EU, US and/or emerging market food regulations is desirable, but will be gained in the role. The role would suit a new graduate, or someone with minimal experience in the food/nutrition sector who is willing to
* Keen interest in, and understanding of, sports nutrition, food supplements and fortified foods.
* Good working knowledge of MS Office
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally to enable seamless collaboration with NPD, Sales, Brand, Marketing, SQA, QA etc
* Exceptional attention to detail and ability to interpret complex information
* Ability to manage workload and adapt to changing business priorities and requirements.
Performance – how you will know you are doing a great job
* Overall risk to business due to non-compliances in relevant territories will be minimised
* NPD and EPD completed within designated timelines, to meet commercial deadlines
* Skill, knowledge and understanding of the complexities of regulatory compliance will be improved through on-the-job learning and mentoring from other team members.
Specific metrics will be set when in role and will be reviewed and built upon regularly. Alongside this, you will be supported with a personal performance plan that will enable you to continue improving your own performance and impact.
