Job Description
A leading corporate banking and capital markets organisation is seeking an eFX Quantitative Trader Intern to join the team in London.
Main Purpose of the Role:
* To research, test and implement quantitative pricing and trading strategies for an electronic FX market making business.
* To provide daily support to various business stakeholders (eg traders, quants, sales) and help resolve any system issues as they arise.
* To help grow the profitability of the business through the quantitative analysis of proprietary data.
Key Activities and Competencies:
* Provide adequate support to the trading team in dealing with technical issues as they arise.
* Analyse historical trades and market data with the use of an analytical programming language such as python to identify strategic opportunities.
* Monitoring of system health and prices generated by the trading platform.
* Optimising platform parameters and settings.
* Research, prototype and backtest new pricing and hedging strategies.
* Coordinate with IT to bring new systematic trading strategies to production.
* Assist in key system developments – pricing, hedging & position management & client tiering.
* Identify client patterns and translate into strategic proposals to maximize the success of the global franchise.
* Stay up to date with the latest research on algorithmic trading.

Duration: 6 or 12 months
Key Requirements:
* Post graduate degree in a technical field (ie Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Applied Mathematics etc).
* Proficiency in an analytical programming language such as python, R or MATLAB to be used daily for research and analysis.
* Strong interest in trading financial instruments such as fx, stocks, bonds and derivatives.
* Interest in algorithmic trading.
* Motivated to learn all aspects of a trading business including pricing, risk management, trade workflow and client analytics.
* Willingness to frequently engage other team members including sales, client services, IT, and traders to learn about the business.
* Experience with java and a database language such as q or sql preferred.
* Graduated in the last 12 months or working towards graduation.
* Expected to or have achieved a minimum 2.1 UK bachelors degree (or equivalent).
* Minimum 320 UCAS points (or equivalent).
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially excel and word).
* Some business knowledge or previous internships within Financial Services but not essential.
* Team player.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Fluent English.
