We are looking for a Locum Pharmacist to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) at CWX Regional HQ in Tidworth, Wiltshire.
Work pattern: Monday - Friday (22.5 hours).
The successful applicant will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel and their families.

- Paye: £31.01 per hour
- Umbrella: £35.66 per hour
Job Description
- Provide specialist professional advice and leadership on prescribing and pharmaceutical issues to Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) Region whilst ensuring compliance with Medicine Legislation and congruence with the governance framework.
- Support and coordinate Medical Centres within the Region to ensure the delivery within a medicine’s management framework of a legal, safe, cost‑effective and efficient high‑quality pharmaceutical service.
- Act as Pharmaceutical advisor to the Regional Clinical Director.
- Provide professional support to the dispensaries in the Region, ensuring safe systems of work in accordance with MOD policy and UK legislation.
- Manage and monitor the Out‑sourced Dispensing contract to ensure the delivery of a safe, consistent, cost‑effective service, and act as a mediator in disputes or grievances.
- Promote good prescribing practices and monitor the supply of medicines by healthcare professionals through regular risk‑management audits, prescribing, Combat Med Tech (CMT)/Medic protocols and Patient Group Directions (PGD) audits.
- Provide medicines information and management support to Pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals, including advice on legal aspects of prescribing, storage, procurement, dispensing and usage.
- Coordinate and assist in the delivery of Pharmacy Technician training, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and manage poor performance when appropriate.
- Provide medicine‑management related training to regional staff, including Senior Medical Officers (SMOs), Medical Officers (MOs), Civilian Medical Practitioners (CMPs), Pharmacy Technicians, Nurses, and CMT/Medics.
- Assist in the development and review of Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for use across DPHC and support their use by Healthcare Professionals.
- Demonstrate compliance with Healthcare Governance standards by responding to medicine‑management related Significant Events and providing feedback and training to prevent recurrence.
Essential Requirements / Qualifications / Experience
- Degree in Pharmacy and qualified as a pharmacist.
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Four years post‑qualification experience.
- Certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to and including Level 3 training.
- Valid PVG membership (Disclosure Scotland) or an Access Northern Ireland certificate.
