Based at Gibson's Funeral Services – Bishop Auckland, our Funeral Service Operatives are calm, professional and play a vital role in our service. They are often the first members of the team to meet our families. A good Funeral Service Operative will be able to provide reassurance to families that we will take good care of their loved ones whilst we prepare them for their final journey.
In addition to bringing people’s loved ones into our care, Funeral Service Operatives play an active role behind the scenes, working in the mortuary, fitting coffins, dressing the deceased, and participating in funeral services, pallbearing, and helping to ensure everything goes smoothly.
Your duties will include driving company vehicles, so you’ll need a full driving licence. You’ll also have a place on the out‑of‑hours and on‑call rota, which will provide an opportunity to earn additional payments.
You may have worked in the Funeral industry for many years or may be looking for a new challenge. For us it’s more important that you have the right skills and attributes because we will give you all the training you need to be a success.
We offer a sensitive, professional service to the families in our care and are proud to be part of the Funeral Partners family. Together, we are leading the way in setting new standards of excellence within the profession. Our people are key to our success; they bring a wealth of experience from both inside and outside the Funeral industry and, as an organisation, we know what it means to work as a team.
Working in one of our local Funeral Partners branches you’ll enjoy the satisfaction of working within a small local team alongside the benefits of a large national company. We have family‑friendly policies and can offer flexible working.
