Salary Grade: T29
Salary Range: $85,100 - $130,000
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Provide visionary leadership to advance the Institute on Disabilities (IOD) mission and goals.
- Anticipate and shape critical issues and opportunities in the field of disabilities.
- Develop entrepreneurial business models of service and research.
- Participate in strategic policy activities at the college, university, state, and federal levels.
- Model collaborative, systematic, and evaluative approaches to problem solving.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders, including state agencies and community partners.
- Advance a robust research enterprise with multiple funding streams.
- Explore creative revenue‑enhancement opportunities.
Management
- Provide strategic oversight of funded projects and ensure ethical, sustainable, and efficient management of human and financial resources.
- Lead a complex organization with measurable benchmarks and metrics.
- Develop annual operating plans that advance strategic intentions.
- Recruit, organize, and manage a diverse team, fostering a disability‑positive environment.
- Delegate effectively while maintaining focus on institutional strategy and goals.
- Build capacity through expanded content and programmatic expertise, professional development, and mentoring.
- Ensure compliance with institutional and external regulations.
- Safeguard fiduciary responsibilities to sponsors, the university, and the IOD.
Research
- Manage a portfolio of sponsored grants through full lifecycle compliance.
- Coordinate with investigators and finance staff to maintain budget integrity and support audits.
- Identify funding opportunities and oversee grant‑writing efforts.
- Design, implement, and evaluate policies and programs, documenting evidence of system transformation.
- Support the advancement of research infrastructure.
Required Education & Experience
Master’s degree in education, psychology, sociology, public health, disability studies, or related field and at least 7 years of experience in the field of disability. Experience managing complex projects and supervising both direct and indirect reports. An equivalent combination of education and lived experience may be considered.
Preferred
- Earned doctorate in a related discipline (preferred).
- 8–10 years of experience in the field of disability with supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience supervising populations of people with disabilities.
- A personal connection to lived experience with disability.
