The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) is seeking an experienced Repairs Operations Manager to lead our responsive repairs, voids, and planned maintenance services.About the Role Reporting to the Head of Housing Repairs, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of our in-house repairs team, managing a workforce of approximately 40 staff through five direct reports. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance services to residents, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction, performance management, value for money, and health and safety.You will lead: ·A Responsive Repairs team, ensuring high productivity and service delivery. ·A Voids team, minimising turnaround times and refurbishing properties to a high standard. ·A Planned Works team, delivering works packages efficiently and within budget. You'll be expected to minimise the use of external contractors by developing a capable multi-trade workforce and ensuring operational efficiency through self-delivery.Key Responsibilities ·Provide effective leadership and direction across all repairs services ·Implement and monitor performance management frameworks ·Drive continuous improvement through service innovation and resident feedback ·Manage service budgets and ensure financial accountability ·Embed a strong health and safety culture across the team ·Support procurement processes and manage contractor performance ·Ensure compliance with CDM, COSHH, RIDDOR, and asbestos regulations ·Develop staff through performance reviews and a structured training matrix ·Maintain a 24/7 responsive repairs rotaAbout You We're looking for someone who brings: ·Proven experience managing a DLO (Direct Labour Organisation) in housing repairs or a similar environment ·Excellent knowledge of housing repairs legislation, health and safety regulations, and risk management ·Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with a record of motivating diverse teams ·Experience using KPIs and benchmarking to improve service delivery ·Exceptional communication and IT skills, with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholdersQualifications (Desirable): ·IOSH or NEBOSH ·Asbestos Awareness CertificationOur Values At RBKC, we are committed to putting communities first.
