Job description
The Public Protection Partnership is a shared service delivering Trading Environmental Health and Licensing functions for Bracknell Forest Council and West Berkshire Council and Trading Standards functions to 450K residents and over 10,000 businesses across Bracknell Forest, West Berkshire and Wokingham.
The Joint Case Management Unit works jointly with partner authorities to deliver a case management function that specialises in regulatory and acquisitive crime. The work of the unit covers fields ranging from unfair trading to food safety and health and safety and from licensing and housing to enviro-crime to major frauds and asset recovery. The workload is significant hence the team includes three case managers (lawyers) as well as three Accredited Financial Investigators and a specialist disclosure resource.
We are now seeking an experienced lawyer to carry out case management functions as part of the unit. The work of the successful candidate will include evidential analysis, the provision of advice to OIC’s, magistrates court advocacy, advising on procedural applications, proceeds of crime procedural and court oversight, disclosure etc.
The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer with experience in crime and regulatory law including significant knowledge of some or all of the legislation enforced and administered by trading standards, environmental health and licensing. An in-depth understanding of legal framework governing investigations and criminal litigation is also essential. A knowledge of Proceeds of Crime proceedings and practice is desirable.
