Active Partnerships is seeking a Sport Welfare Project Officer to enhance the national coordination of a key safeguarding and culture change initiative across sport. This is a fixed-term, national role focused on practical support, insight, and collaboration.

About the role:

This people-centered role supports a major national program to improve safeguarding and welfare in grassroots sport. You will be part of a small team connecting and coordinating 63 Sport Welfare Officers nationwide, providing tools, support, and fostering relationships to enable their success.

Responsibilities include gathering insights, supporting daily operations, developing inclusive resources, and being a reliable contact—contributing to cultural change in sport.

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds. Whether early in your career, returning to work, or seeking a flexible, impactful role, if you're organized, empathetic, and motivated to make sport safer and more inclusive, we want to hear from you.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with the central team to deliver the Sport Welfare Officer Programme effectively.
* Build positive relationships with Sport Welfare Officers and stakeholders like Sport England, CPSU, and ACT, fostering trust and collaboration.
* Review evaluation submissions, extract insights, and inform future activities.
* Prepare clear reports to help programme leads understand progress and support needs.
* Coordinate project activities such as meetings, events, and follow-ups.
* Assist with large-scale events in partnership with the comms team.
* Support the development and enhancement of national tools, templates, and guidance for safeguarding practices.
* Ensure content and communications are inclusive and accessible.
* Maintain good admin practices to track tasks and timelines.
* Occasional travel (about once or twice a month) to regional, national, and team events for in-person support and learning.

Knowledge and Skills:

* Strong interpersonal skills—rapport-building, active listening, sensitive communication.
* Excellent organization—managing time and tasks independently in a remote setting.
* Openness and teamwork—valuing diverse perspectives and co-designing solutions.
* Good written communication—clear, plain, adaptable for various audiences.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback and support decision-making.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing principles.
* Proficiency with digital tools like email, video conferencing, shared documents, and spreadsheets.
* Self-motivated and proactive, with support available when needed.
* Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Work Environment and Support:

* Home-based with regular online meetings.
* Travel approximately 1-2 times per month; overnight stays 3-4 times annually.
* Flexible working options considered for suitable candidates.
* Potential access to co-working or local office space if working from home isn't feasible.

What We Offer:

* Home-based role with regular travel across England.
* 6% employer pension contribution with 2% employee contribution.
* Health cover.
