About the Graduate Teacher Role
As a Graduate Teacher, you will:
Work across secondary classrooms, supporting lessons and learning
Lead small groups or deliver pre-planned activities under teacher guidance
Build confidence managing behaviour and engaging pupils in learning
Gain experience across different departments before specialising
Work closely with experienced teachers and mentors who will support your development
About the Tradewind Graduate Programme
Our structured programme is designed to help you transition from graduate to confident classroom practitioner. It includes:
Full training before you start, covering behaviour management, safeguarding, and classroom strategies
Ongoing CPD courses, including routes into teacher training (e.g., Schools Direct or Apprenticeship pathways)
In-school mentoring from experienced education professionals
Opportunities to gradually increase responsibility as your confidence grows
A clear progression path if you wish to move into a teacher training programme after your first year
This programme is ideal for graduates considering a career in teaching, education psychology, child development, or youth support work.
What We're Looking For
A degree in any subject (2:2 or above preferred)
A genuine interest in working with children and young people
Strong communication, resilience, and willingness to learn
A positive attitude and ability to build relationships
A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
