1. To ensure there is consistent strategic leadership across the Trust for Physiotherapists.
2. To provide a clear point of contact for Physiotherapy in UHS West for external stakeholders.

9. To act as a key link for Outpatient Physiotherapy with partner organizations to continue the development of integrated working.
10. Lead in the business planning process for outpatient Physiotherapy, working with other.
11. Physiotherapy Leads in the Trust to ensure training and development needs are met.

Main duties of the job
Service Delivery and Improvement
13. To always ensure efficient deployment of staff
14. To plan future workforce developments to meet the demands of the service across all clinical subspecialty areas within the Trust.
15. To develop, implement and monitor an integrated clinical governance strategy across Physiotherapy,
16. To work collaboratively with Consultant Physiotherapist to ensure expert clinical knowledge to be able to support staff.
Policy and Service Development Implementation
17. To jointly lead the strategy for Trust wide Physiotherapy services.
18. To review and evaluate departmental policies and procedures,
19. To implement and continually develop integrated key performance systems
Financial and Physical Development (inc. equipment, stock etc)
20. To hold joint responsibility for the management of the Physiotherapy service budget.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Communication
27. To manage and be responsible for the outpatient Physiotherapy service, providing effective professional leadership for all staff.
28. To act as a role model for exemplary professional behaviour and inter-professional relationships, dealing with contentious and sensitive information appropriately. To receive, analyse and impart highly complex information adapting style and approach to meet the needs of the recipients and to facilitate understanding.
29. To provide an excellent standard of written and verbal reports across all levels of the organisation.
30. To ensure communication networks are appropriate and effective at all levels internally and externally.
31. To communicate highly complex profession specific information to patients, carers, families and other health care professionals.
32. To organise and chair meetings both internally and externally.

Service Delivery and Improvement
35. To always ensure efficient deployment of staff in the outpatient Physiotherapy Service across sites
36. To plan future workforce developments within the resources available to meet the demands of the service across all clinical subspecialty areas within the Trust.

To implement and analyse service reviews with varying levels of complexity as required, ensuring that services provided are patient-centred and evidence based and meet current clinical and professional standards as set by NHS England, the Trust and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. To manage changes that may be required as a result.
38. To lead and implement service developments including writing business and operational plans, across teams and organisational boundaries in collaboration with other service managers to enhance services and staff development.
39. When a deficit is identified within staff resources, to identify potential risks and to make a robust business case for change based on clinical need.
40. To work collaboratively with other service managers, project leads and professionals throughout the whole health economy to facilitate seamless patient care based on clinical need.
41. To develop, implement and monitor an integrated clinical governance strategy across Physiotherapy, ensuring a robust framework for risk management is in place as part of the strategy.
42. To work collaboratively with Consultant Physiotherapist to ensure expert clinical knowledge to be able to support and guide junior clinical staff as required is maintained in the service; providing specialist advice to other healthcare professionals and the Head of Therapies as required.
Policy and Service Development Implementation
43. To jointly lead the strategy for Trust wide Physiotherapy services.
44. To explore alternative methods of service provision, taking into consideration efficiency, quality, new evidence-based practice, new professional guidelines, and research and audit results. To lead and implement change where necessary. Taking into account national policy for Physiotherapy services.
45. To review and evaluate departmental policies and procedures, ensuring they are in line with Trust, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and governmental standards. Propose new policies and standard operating procedures as appropriate to support areas of service development, specialist clinical services and reduce risk in clinical areas.
46. To act as a lead representative of Physiotherapy services both within the Trust and whilst working with partner organisations.
47. To implement and continually develop integrated key performance systems and reports across the Physiotherapy service and monitor activity to achieve targets.
48. To cover meetings and work assigned on behalf of the Head of Therapies. To deputise for the Head of Therapies as required.
Financial and Physical Development (inc. equipment, stock etc)
49. To hold joint responsibility for the management of the Physiotherapy service budget.
50. To take a pivotal role in the budget setting process, implementing and monitoring controls to remain within budget.
51. To process orders and invoices and authorise payments up to a limit of £5000. Adhere to standing financial instructions within the organisation.
52. Be able to interrogate pay and non-pay expenditure within the department and to understand factors impacting in the departmental monthly ‘run rate’. To be able to enact remedial action to achieve financial balance or make recommendations when this is beyond departmental influence.
53. Seek out and develop ideas for new business opportunities in tandem with the Head of Therapies, AHP Director and Business partners.
54. Develop schemes to support the Trust efficiency programme.

Research and Development
68. Ensure that the Physiotherapy service undertakes clinical audits and participates in research as part of the overall Therapy objective to develop research skills and capability.
69. To undertake thorough and critical evaluation of current research and evidence-based practice and NICE guidelines, apply these to clinical practice and disseminate findings at a local level ensuring compliance in the department.
70. Participate in the overall Therapy research programme, led by the Consultant Physiotherapist.
