Contract type: Full Time (37.5 hours) – Permanent

Location: Stratford, The University of Huddersfield - London Campus

Salary: up to £35,000 per annum

To be part of the Student Experience Team and be responsible for coordinating student wellbeing, enrichment, and engagement within the centre. The post holder will be operationally managed by the Student Experience Leader and will oversee the Student Wellbeing & Engagement Officers. You will play a vital role in delivering an excellent student experience. The role acts as DDSL or DSL, ensuring safeguarding compliance with regulations and has the authority to carry out this specific part of the role.


ABOUT THE ROLE

1. Responsible for student welfare, safeguarding, Prevent, and enrichment activities within the centre, including related administration and record-keeping.
2. Manage cases related to student welfare concerns, ensuring fair workload distribution among the team, including meetings, fitness to study assessments, and reasonable adjustments.
3. Ensure safeguarding of students in line with Study Group policies and procedures.
4. Act as Deputy or Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), with authority to escalate issues and monitor safeguarding concerns, including monitoring student whereabouts and coordinating procedures.
5. Create Support Plans, Safety Plans, and Exit Plans, ensuring proper approval and escalation.
6. Collaborate with relevant teams to support student performance and intervention strategies.
7. Maintain accurate records in Studygroup systems, ensuring they are current and factual.
8. Attend network meetings and deputise for the DSL as needed.
9. Utilise data to identify areas for improvement in welfare and learning support.
10. Escalate concerns to the Student Experience Leader and the Central Student Wellbeing team.
11. Work with teams to ensure a holistic approach to welfare support and promote inclusive practices.
12. Maintain the Wellbeing and Welfare section on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
13. Organise and deliver wellbeing components of induction and other activities, developing related materials.
14. Support Student Ambassadors and engagement activities.
15. Build relationships with the University Partner to promote student engagement.
16. Line manage and motivate Welfare and Engagement Officers, ensuring high-quality student outcomes.
17. If acting as DSL, coordinate training for DDSLs and conduct regular case review meetings.
18. Provide supervision and performance management for team members.
19. Recruit new staff as needed, following policies.
20. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Student Experience and Wellbeing Strategy, policies, and procedures.
21. Support safeguarding awareness initiatives and ensure policy compliance.
22. Maintain quality and documentation related to welfare responsibilities.
23. Contribute to safeguarding reviews and reports.
24. Participate in governance committees as required.
25. Monitor and evaluate the impact of student welfare initiatives through data analysis.
26. Assist with organising student induction, transition, and enrichment activities.
27. Handle student queries via face-to-face, email, or phone.
28. Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
29. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Student Experience Leader or Centre Director.


ABOUT YOU

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience demonstrating ability to work independently.
* Administration or management training or qualification.
* Higher-level safeguarding training.
* Previous line management experience is desirable.
* Experience supporting students in an educational setting.
* Experience in developing and maintaining the Student Experience.
* Experience working in a regulated environment.
