We’re seeking Parkinson’s Disease Homecare Nurses to join our Clinical Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with strong likelihood of extension and potential to become permanent.

This is a field-based, regional position. We have positions available in the North, Midlands and South regions available.

This a new and exciting role, as part of HealthNet’s business growth, and focuses upon the care of patients who will receive Produodopa for symptom management.

This post requires an experienced Parkinsons Disease Nurse, to support the initiation of Produodopa, who is committed to delivering high-quality, safe nursing services in the home and occasionally in a clinic setting, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and professional standards

The post holder will work within the regional teams, supporting the Clinical Team Managers and nurses with the day-to-day requirements of the Parkinsons Disease & Produodopa Patient Support Program.

The role can be divided into 2 distinct operational categories and responsibilities:

• Clinical

• Supervisory

The post holder will be a visible, credible role model and advocate for high quality and safe Parkinson Disease care and Produodopa treatment provision, at all times.

MainResponsibilities

* The post holder will be responsible for the management of a caseload of patients living with Parkinsons Disease. This caseload will be transient and will involve the support and initiation of patients commencing Produodopa, under the medical care of their specialist NHS consultant and any ongoing requirements as part of the Parkinsons Disease Patient Support Program.
* The post holder will be required to work autonomously at times and therefore must be a confident and competent Parkinsons Disease practitioner, able to support patients in the community and to provide dedicated clinic support as required.
* The post holder will be responsible, without the need for direct supervision, for the teaching of patients/carers to administer their Produodopa therapy.
* The post holder will participate in home visits, telephone calls, virtual calls and clinics as necessary and part of the patients support program.
* The post holder will work across the HealthNet Homecare Regional Nursing Teams, working to support the Clinical Team Managers and the wider nursing workforce, whilst delivering a personalised Produopa service, improving standards and outcomes of Parkinsons Disease care for patients.
* The post holder will support the Clinical Team Manager to ensure all nurses understand and deliver compliance with service level agreements, work orders and contracts. They will support and oversee HealthNet Homecare field nurses in the respective regions when caring for Parkinsons Disease patients.
* The post holder will collaborate with a wide variety of professionals both internally and externally working across multiple organisations such as the NHS, whilst supporting the Pharmaceutical Company to maximise patient outcomes and experiences for those individuals prescribed Produodopa.
* The post holder will also be required to help develop, launch and deliver a bespoke Parkinsons Disease training and competency program, to support and equip the Nursing workforce with the knowledge and skills to safely care for patients with Parkinsons Disease and commencing Produodopa. This will be in conjunction with the HealthNet Learning and Development team.
* The post holder will support the Clinical Team Managers to ensure staff working on the program achieve training compliance within the Parkinson’s Patient Support Program in line with company policies, and procedures.
* The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that a high-quality service is delivered consistently, through the successful achievement of patient outcomes and KPIs, whilst also contributing to business growth and the development needs of the Parkinsons Patient Support Program. To post holder will support and assist the patient and the responsible healthcare professional to deliver a seamless service between hospital and the home, to help drive treatment adherence and compliance, and enhance patient outcomes.
* The post holder will practice in accordance with the expected standards of professional competence and current nursing practices underpinned by latest evidence; within their own professional boundaries and the NMC Code at all times.
* The post holder will ensure contemporaneous and accurate record keeping of all patient care related activities, in accordance with the NMC code, regulatory requirements and HealthNet guidelines, standard operating procedures & work instructions. Where relevant these will be acted upon to communicate any information or changes to the patient’s health to the Consultant/Healthcare Professional. To maintain and ensure accessibility to the necessary Produodopa medical and ancillary supplies, ensuring medical equipment is maintained in good working order for safe delivery of the service. Complete all HealthNet Homecare professional mandatory training, both in house and from external training providers, as deemed appropriate to the position, within the relevant deadlines
* Due to the nature of this role the post holder will be expected to undertake a large amount of travel to visit patients in their own home environment and on occasion in a clinic setting. On occasion this may require an overnight stay (at the expense of the company) so as to ensure patient and staff safety, dependent upon travel volume and location.
* The post holder will be required to support the ongoing review of the Produodopa service alongside clinical governance and quality assurance activities as relevant, to the undertaking of associated audits, policy reviews, competency assessments etc
* The post holder will be required to maintain their professional profile, partaking in Continuing Professional Development, whilst also sharing knowledge with the wider team to improve or enhance patient care, and to ensure best practice

Experience:

Essential:

* A subject matter expert in Parkinson’s Disease management of patient’s Desirable:
* A minimum of 5 years post-registration experience within a clinical setting, of which some dedicated time will have been spent working specifically within the field of Parkinsons Disease or Neurology.
* Experience of working autonomously within a community setting
*. Experienced in the administration of sub-cut therapies, IV infusions, phlebotomy skills.
* Experienced in supporting and supervising junior staff members
* Experience and ability to teach and deliver training opportunities, via a range of delivery styles.
* Experienced and confident with various IT platforms including Microsoft Office.

Qualifications:

* Registered Nurse, with current and up to date NMC Registration Evidence of recent CPD relevant to the field of Parkinsons Disease and/or Neurology care. ENB 998 or equivalent in teaching and assessing

Ability to handle situations calmly and professionally Ability to interact effectively and professionally with a variety of individuals – patients, professionals, clients, customers. Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage own workload and supervise the workload of others where required Confident to work both autonomously and as part of a team. Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the service, including a willingness to travel Ability to ensure patient, client and customer satisfaction is always maintained, wherever possible Ability to support Clinical Team Manager to develop and sustain a professional nursing team by showing mutual respect, integrity, strong professional image, and personal credibility. Ensuring the organisation and the nursing profession are not brought into disrepute. Meticulous attention to detail / accuracy and maintaining clear, concise, and contemporaneous communication and documentation in line with the NMC Code

Key Competencies:

* Maintain excellent clinical and professional standards of work
* Proficient in collaborating across multifunctional teams to ensure patient, client and customer satisfaction is always maintained.
* Full current clean driving license.
* Access to own transport insured for business use, as the role will include travel within the region for the provision of support for patients, business, and the nursing team.
