Overview
You will be responsible for greeting all patients that attend the UTC ensuring they are registered in a prompt and professional manner. You will provide administrative support to the nursing and clinical staff on duty, ensuring that clinical coding is correct, attending pre-booked appointments, photocopying and scanning all attendance information, and portraying a professional image at all times. These positions work 365 days a year including weekends and bank holidays. The role is open to flexible and part-time working where requested.
The newly formed Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at BNHH will register an average of 700 patients per week. The department is open 16 hours a day, from 08:00 to 00:00, 365 days per year. In accordance with Department of Health guidelines, all patients attending the department should be seen, treated and discharged or admitted within 4 hours of arrival. The UTC and Emergency Department are very busy and all staff will be exposed to a challenging environment. Support mechanisms are in place for reporting and support.
Responsibilities
* Greet patients and ensure accurate registration for the UTC.
* Provide administrative support to nursing and clinical staff on duty.
* Ensure clinical coding is correct and manage arriving pre-booked appointments.
* Photocopy and scan attendance information; maintain organized records.
* Maintain a professional image at all times.
* Work in a busy, challenging department and manage difficult situations as they arise.
* Cover shifts in the Emergency Department and the newly formed Urgent Treatment Centre, including a 4 on 4 off rolling rota that includes bank holidays and weekends.
Qualifications and Skills
* Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal and external agencies (e.g., Mental Health teams, Police, 111 services, Social Services).
* Ability to work in a busy, changing environment with flexibility to adapt to evolving tasks.
* Fluent English to an appropriate standard as part of the selection process.
