What will you be doing?
You will join the Research and Development department working on the core Contextual Decision Intelligence offering: the Quantexa Platform. You will have the opportunity to work across the full stack, contributing to back-end services (Scala) and front-end (TypeScript and Angular), with opportunities to specialize as you develop your skills.
The Quantexa Platform helps customers solve business problems in areas such as fraud, financial crime, data management and more. Our products process, analyze and display large data volumes to detect anomalous and suspicious activity.
The R&D department is comprised of engineers, DevOps, data engineers and scientists, designers, QA and others. You will rotate between teams and projects, gaining exposure to different facets of our fast-paced R&D function. You will learn skills across Quantexa’s technology stack, including Scala, Apache Spark, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch and GCP. You will also experience the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with software engineers, product owners, designers and testers.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who:
* Have 0-2 years of commercial software engineering experience
* Take pride in designing and building well-engineered solutions to complex problems
* Have a thirst to learn and are eager to tackle new and challenging problems
* Have experience with modern object-oriented or functional programming languages (e.g. Java, C#, Python, JavaScript)
* Can take a big-picture approach to solving problems and ensure solutions work well within the wider system
* Have a passion and drive to grow within one of the UK's fastest-growing scale-ups
Experience in the following would be beneficial:
* Experience with Scala or TypeScript
* Interest in Functional Programming
* Experience with technologies such as Akka/Pekko, Cats, Spring Boot, Elasticsearch, Gradle, Apache Spark, Hadoop, Docker, Kubernetes
* Experience with cloud technologies (we use GCP internally)
* Experience of the full engineering life cycle from design through testing and deployment
