As a Scientist you'll be responsible for the analysis of residues and chemical contaminants in foodstuffs, packaging materials and environmental matrices by LC‑MS. In addition, you will contribute to instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, and to deliver training as required.
What you'll be doing:
* Analyse samples using established methods and novel techniques.
* Report data to internal teams for timely delivery of external deadlines to accreditation standards.
* Contribute to the development of new LC‑MS methods.
* Contribute to instrument maintenance and repair, training others as required.
* Be aware of and follow the appropriate quality assurance and safety procedures.
* Write and work from Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to defined quality standards.
* Deliver training to internal staff and external delegates.
Qualifications and experience:
* Good knowledge of Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry, theory and practical and knowledge of wet chemistry techniques.
* Preferably a minimum of 1 year of experience running LC‑MS/MS (and/or data processing).
* Masslynx, Masshunter or Chromeleon training preferred.
* Good IT skills and the ability to pick up the use of bespoke software to a high level quickly.
* Ability to learn and implement new laboratory techniques.
* Self‑motivated and have an ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues and other team members across the program.
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* Experience of operating within a quality system (e.g. UKAS or GLP).
