We are working with a leading specialist contractor in the building envelope and façade sector, delivering high-quality commercial and residential projects across the UK. Your new role:
Our client is seeking a Design Manager with strong technical expertise and up-to-date knowledge of Building Safety Regulations (BSR) to lead design delivery across multiple façade and cladding projects. This is a hands-on role where you will manage the technical design process, coordinate with clients and contractors, and ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
Responsibilities will include:
Leading the design team and managing the full technical design process for façade and cladding projects.
Ensuring all designs comply with Building Safety Regulations and other statutory requirements.
Liaising with clients, consultants, and contractors to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and safe design solutions.
Reviewing and approving technical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
Coordinating with procurement and site teams to ensure design feasibility and buildability.
Managing project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
Identifying and mitigating design risks, ensuring high-quality standards and adherence to safety protocols.
Supporting tender and bid processes with technical input and design expertise.
What you will need to succeed:
Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Technical Designer in the construction or façade sector.
Strong knowledge of Building Safety Regulations (BSR) and industry standards.
Technical expertise in façade systems, cladding, steel framing, and external wall solutions.
Excellent understanding of design processes, technical drawings, and specifications.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
