Job Details Housing Support Worker Location: Brighton & Hove £30,521 per annum 37 hours per week 6 month fixed-term contract* About us Brighton & Hove Seaside Community Homes is a local housing charity that raises commercial finance to bring self-contained empty properties back into use for households in housing need. Our housing is used as temporary accommodation for households owed a statutory housing duty by the local authority. About the role We are looking for a highly motivated Housing Support Worker to join our team in Brighton & Hove. You will provide advice, information, support and guidance to tenants around a range of issues to: Help tenants manage and maintain their tenancies including assistance with moving on to more permanent housing. Improve financial wellbeing by assisting with applications for welfare benefits and other payments Assist with finding employment. The role will initially prioritise supporting tenants who are subject to the Welfare Benefit Cap, aiming to mitigate its effects and enabling tenants to become exempt. The role will primarily be community based, meeting tenants in their own homes and community locations as necessary, with some office working. *The role is initially fixed term for 6 months but is likely to be continued if we can demonstrate that positive outcomes continue to be achieved. What you will need You will have: A ‘can-do’ attitude Knowledge of the issues faced by tenants gained either through direct or indirect experience. Knowledge and experience of providing housing-related support and welfare benefits advice. Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to work effectively with a range of statutory and voluntary organisations. The ability to be self-motivating with highly developed organisational, planning, problem solving and time management skills. Knowledge of safeguarding processes. This is not a role where sponsorship to work in the UK will be provided.
