We are seeking to employ an Administrative Officer in our Building Control and Planning Enquiries Team. The post is permanent for 25.9 hours (3.5 days) per week. You will need to be a quick learner and use your initiative to understand and manage extremely complex information and enquiries. The team are busy and the work is pacey.
Our team is the first point of contact for customer enquiries about Planning and Building Control, so you will need excellent communication skills both written and by phone to assist with a high volume of customer contacts and enquiries.
You will be part of a team who manage Planning property searches and administer applications for the Local Authority Building Control function, receiving and recording Planning Enforcement, Building Control Contravention and Dangerous Structures cases. You should be comfortable with accurately recording and extracting complex information from IT systems and managing records, both electronic and in hard copy format.
You will require experience of working within Planning Records and Enquiries, a Building Control Technical Admin setting or have experience within another regulated area of work. Our service is changing, so you will require experience of improving processes and working with multiple business applications and other teams to respond to enquiries within statutory deadlines.
You will need to demonstrate extremely high levels of customer care and be a committed team player, actively contributing to improving service delivery. You will have flexible approach to meet the needs of our customers and of the service where demands on our resources can fluctuate.
Place HUB is an operational service located at the Council’s Howden House and Staniforth Road sites. The post will mainly be based at Howden House or working from home through a hybrid approach. You will be required to provide cover during opening hours of 8.30am to 5.00pm and work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
