The Team
The Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Team is responsible for religious provision and pastoral care for all staff and students. We provide spaces and opportunities for reflection, listening, confidential support, prayer, worship, meditation, socialising and spiritual exploration. In doing this we work closely with teams across the university, from Student Success & Learning to academic schools.
The role
This Chaplaincy Assistant role, reporting to the Chaplain, works within the team to help deliver a vibrant and engaging programme of events to both staff and students. This will include, but is not limited to, hosting regular lunches, facilitating small groups, working in partnership with our other Chaplaincy Assistant and taking an active role in Welcome Week and other university-wide events.
The role is term time only for 8 hours a week, ideally on a Tuesday plus one other day; running from mid-September 2026 to mid-June 2027
Required Skills and Experience
This role would particularly suit someone exploring a vocation to Chaplaincy and/or ministry in their own faith. The successful candidate will have an outgoing and inclusive nature which embraces interaction with people of all backgrounds. They will demonstrate the ability to build constructive relationships with staff and students, offering sensitivity and warmth to everyone visiting or using the Chaplaincy, regardless of their background, culture or faith. Awareness of major religious festivals and customs would be an advantage.

It is anticipated that the selection process will include an interview together with a tour of the campus. Further details will be provided if you are shortlisted for interview.
