Location: Merstham
Hours: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus INSET)
Contract Type: Fixed-term (2025–2028)
Salary: Surrey Pay Scale S5 point 2–6 (£27,634 – £29,604 FTE)
Actual salary: approximately £19,811 per annum (pro rata)

We are seeking a reliable, organised, and supportive individual to join our team in a blended role combining Support Administration and Teaching Assistant duties, with a focus on Food Technology.

The role will typically involve working three days per week in a support administration capacity and two days per week as a Teaching Assistant. These days may vary depending on operational needs.
This position would suit someone who enjoys variety, works well both independently and as part of a team, and is comfortable supporting practical, classroom-based learning.
Key Responsibilities
Support Administration Duties
1. Provide day-to-day administrative support to the classroom and wider team
2. Assist with planning, organisation, and preparation of resources
3. Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
4. Support communication between staff where appropriate
5. Use school systems and IT tools effectively
Teaching Assistant Duties
6. Provide in-class support under the direction of the class teacher
7. Support learning activities within a Food Technology / practical classroom environment
8. Assist with preparation of materials, ingredients, and equipment
9. Help maintain a safe, clean, and organised learning space
10. Support students appropriately, promoting engagement and independence
General Responsibilities
11. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
12. Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and food hygiene procedures
13. Report any concerns, incidents, or issues promptly
14. Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful working environment
15. Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider school team to support pupils’ individual needs
16. Uphold the school’s values in all interactions
Person Specification
Essential
17. Experience in an education, support, or administrative role
18. Strong organisational and communication skills
19. Ability to adapt between administrative and classroom-based work
20. Calm, patient, and professional approach
21. Willingness to work flexibly across support functions
Desirable
22. Experience as a Teaching Assistant
23. Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs
24. Experience in Food Technology or a practical learning environment
25. Knowledge of basic kitchen safety and hygiene (training can be provided)
