The role
As a Senior Commercial Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping commercial strategy and driving performance across our Engineering and Systems Integration business unit. This is a pivotal leadership role where your decisions will directly impact national defence capabilities, operational excellence, and long-term business success.
Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
1. Lead commercial strategy and operations for the West Midlands production site
2. Drive governance and provide expert guidance across contract activities
3. Negotiate with customers, suppliers, and partners to secure optimal outcomes
4. Develop and manage pre-contractual agreements and commercial documentation
5. Collaborate with leadership to support bids, tenders, and growth initiatives
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 - 3 days in the office/onsite and 1 -2 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Commercial Manager:
6. Demonstrating a strong track record in contract negotiation and commercial governance
7. Applying legal frameworks and principles to complex commercial environments
8. Influencing senior stakeholders with confidence and credibility
9. Managing full contract lifecycles in multi-disciplinary settings
10. Interpreting financial data and driving cash control and billing performance
Qualifications for the Senior Commercial Manager:
11. Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in a commercial discipline
12. Experience in defence, engineering, or vehicle manufacturing sectors – is preferred
