Our client, a growing manufacturing company based in Norwich, are currently seeking an experienced TIG Welder to join their team.
This is a full-time, permanent position with the following hours:
Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30
Friday: 08:00 – 14:30
Job Purpose
Reporting directly to the Production Team Leader, responsible for fabrication of products to specific targets achieving output to meet the KPIs; work in support of lean process and continual change in line with the future company vision to achieve and maintain ISO 9001 and any other business needs.
Responsibilities
* Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal parts, equipment, and products using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
* Read and interpret drawings, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal products.
* Select gauge and type of sheet metal or box sections required as per drawing.
* Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material using measuring tools and templates to develop and build products as per work drawing.
* Set up and operate fabricating machines (e.g., break press, band saw, deburr machines) and laser cutting equipment where applicable.
* Shape metal material using hand tools or fly press machinery.
* Finish surfaces by trimming, filing, grinding, deburring, buffing, and smoothing.
* Use welding equipment or other methods to bond or assemble component parts, using hand tools and equipment.
* Install assemblies in supportive framework according to drawings, using appropriate tools and lifting devices.
KPIs & Performance
* Observe daily targets and meet output requirements; produce products to drawing specifications using materials and machinery effectively.
Quality & Health & Safety
* Work within ISO 9001 standards and maintain quality standards.
* Follow control points for quality and health & safety; inform the team leader of any issues or non-conformities.
* Ensure training is appropriate to perform duties safely and to quality standards.
* Wear all required PPE and ensure sourced materials are to specification and fit for purpose.
* Raise concerns with documentation or drawings to your team leader.
Policies & Procedures
* Maintain compliance with all established policies and procedures.
Team Working & Continuous Improvement
* Attend lean manufacturing workshops / training; work within the company vision to improve efficiencies.
* Contribute to team effort and achieve related results as needed.
* Inspect assemblies using measuring instruments as required.
* Repair and maintain sheet metal products.
* May operate computer-controlled programs or equipment to produce products or components.
