The Revenue Protection Officer focuses on ensuring accurate postage payment and preventing revenue leakage by auditing payment processes, departmental checks and compliance with legal requirements. There will be exposure to multiple departments ensuring there are constructive relationships as well as process improvement and development.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Revenue Audit & Compliance: Inspecting departments to ensure correct methods are applied and identifying underpaid or fraudulent procedures.
Process Management: Auditing departmental activity that has been flagged for inconsistencies.
Detection of Fraud: Identifying and acting upon fraudulent activity, by reporting and discussing issues and taking appropriate action.
Reporting & Data Analysis: Compiling reports on findings, including tracking revenue loss and identifying trends in non-compliance.
Process Improvement: Assisting in implementing procedures to reduce revenue leakage and improve compliance across departmental units.
Adhoc Activity as Required: The role can be constantly evolving with different priorities and time requirements depending on business activity.
Requirements
Attention to Detail: Ability to spot discrepancies in postage, labels, and documentation.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in adapting to internal systems and obtaining information as required with bespoke software.
Communication Skills: Confident in reporting issues to management and handling enquiries regarding ambiguous transactions.
Analytical Ability: Understanding of, or ability to learn, revenue, expenses, and data protection principles.
Conflict Management: Ability to manage difficult situations professionally, if required.
Self Starter: A lot of the time, time will have to be self managed, so important to be pro-active and constantly reviewing processes as needed.
Flexibility: The nature of the role requires an adaptable workload depending on seasonality and project work. This means it is unlikely the hours will be consistent week to week.
