We are looking for a team of personal assistants to assist a 25‑year‑old male who uses a wheelchair. The client also has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. The successful applicant will receive specialised training to support the client’s needs.
As part of this role, you will cook, clean, support with personal care, and deliver medication and other tasks to support the client. A key part of the role will be taking the client out and about. Initially there are no set times or days, but the client will give 2 or 3 days’ notice. Trips will be to local activities and places, and as the team grows, they may include caravan trips and other getaways. When the full team is in place, a proper schedule will be developed, extending support to the client’s home.
Applicants must have a caring attitude, a good sense of humour, be reliable, and have a positive and flexible approach to work. Experience with moving and handling training with a hoist and epilepsy training would be beneficial, although successful applicants can receive training at a later date. Drivers with clean licenses only please, as the client has a mobility vehicle that will be used for trips. This role requires an enhanced check through PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups).
If you are interested in the post, please write a short paragraph about yourself and what has interested you in the role. This will allow the client to gain a picture of who will best connect with him.
