We are offering an exciting opportunity for Band 7 Therapeutic Radiographers to join our team in a forward thinking radiotherapy department at Velindre Cancer Centre.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Therapeutic Radiographer wishing to expand their knowledge and experience at a purpose built Cancer Centre, providing world class cancer care to the people of South East Wales.
In addition, you will be required to work flexibly according to the demands of the service, including shifts that cover the service between the extended hours of 7am-7pm, weekends and on-call.
This post is fixed term/secondment until 30/09/2026 due to maternity cover. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Main duties of the job
To lead a team of radiographers in the day-to-day management of a treatment unit within the radiotherapy service.
To work on the treatment unit carrying out accurate and consistent treatment techniques.
To organise the work load in the various functions of the department and take responsibility for training and supervising more junior radiographers and students.
To be part of a large multi-disciplinary team and to be involved in the total care of patients undergoing radiotherapy.
To train and educate health professionals in a variety of settings e.g. formal lectures, seminars, small group training.
To work flexibly according to the demands of the Service, including weekends and across more than one site.
To participate in CHART and on-call working as required.

* Significant knowledge of radiotherapy acquired by rotating through all aspects of radiotherapy involving the whole range of highly specialised and highly complex radiotherapy equipment
* Knowledge and understanding of principles and concepts underpinning applications and techniques used in radiotherapy
* Sound practical and technical ability
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working with Varian and/or Elekta equipment
* Quality assurance
* Audit
* Student assessment
* Experience in review clinic and other areas of radiotherapy practice
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* BSc (Hons) T or Diploma of College of Radiographers DCR(T)
* Registration with Health Professions Council
* Evidence of CPD (continuing professional development) gained through short courses at Masters level or equivalent
* Knowledge and understanding of principles and concepts underpinning applications and techniques used in radiotherapy
* Knowledge and understanding of current oncology issues
* Full knowledge of radiation regulations
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of further study to Masters Level
* Leadership or management studies/ qualification
