Position Overview: The Field Service Engineer will provide commissioning, maintenance, and technical support across a range of electrical marine propulsion and power systems. Acting as a key customer-facing representative, the engineer will be responsible for carrying out planned service activities, diagnostics, repairs, and installations on electrical systems — including switchboards and power management systems. This is a field-based position with hybrid flexibility, requiring regular travel across the UK and occasional overseas assignments (including product training in Germany and operational deployments under CONDO terms). Key Responsibilities: Perform commissioning, servicing, and repair of marine propulsion and power systems, including IPMS/AMS and switchboard systems Conduct installation and commissioning of switchboards and PMS equipment Use diagnostic tools and fault-finding techniques to identify and resolve technical issues Produce detailed technical reports following all service and repair activities Support customers both remotely and on-site, maintaining high levels of communication and professionalism Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota for emergency service support Mentor and support junior engineers and apprentices where appropriate Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times Maintain control of tools, parts, and service stock assigned to them Liaise with other internal departments (Engineering, Projects, Sales) as required Undertake additional workshop-based duties when required Skills & Experience Required: Proven experience in an electrically biased field service engineering role Hands-on experience with switchboards, PMS, propulsion systems, or control panels Knowledge of marine systems, heavy electrical infrastructure, or complex power systems is highly desirable Comfortable with diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures, both traditional and software-based Physically fit and able to work in confined or challenging environments (e.g., vessels, dockyards) Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND / Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics Full UK Driving Licence and valid Passport (travel required) Willing to obtain MOD Security Clearance and complete CONDO (Contractors on Deployed Operations) training Proficiency with Microsoft Office and report writing Desirable Attributes: Prior experience working in Marine, Defence, or Power Generation industries Good interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly with customers, suppliers, and team members Proactive, self-motivated, and safety-conscious Willingness to travel and work flexibly in line with project requirements Salary & Benefits: Competitive salary (DOE) Company vehicle / travel expenses Hybrid working model (when not on client site) Structured development and progression opportunities International training and development exposure Company pension & benefits package
