A profitable and growing medical device consultancy is looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join its close-knit R&D team in Kent. This is an opportunity to play a leading role in developing complex medical technologies, working with early-stage ventures and established companies to bring innovative devices to market

You’ll be joining a business where your technical decisions genuinely shape the product
The Role
* You will lead software and firmware development across a portfolio of medical device projects.
* Working as part of the R&D team, you’ll take ownership of embedded systems from early-stage concept design through to validation, regulatory documentation, and manufacturing release
You may work on projects such as:
* A diagnostic device for detecting skin cancer
* A gas delivery system for lung treatment
* A PCR system for disease and virus detection
This role combines hands-on embedded programming with system-level thinking and structured documentation required in regulated environments.
Technical Environment: C / C++ (embedded systems), C#, Python, GUI development
What You’ll Need
* Strong commercial experience in Embedded C/C++ development
* Experience developing firmware for embedded or system control devices
* Ability to produce clear, structured documentation suitable for medical/ regulatory environments
* Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in a small, collaborative team
Desirable:
* Experience in the medical device or regulated industry
Location & Working Pattern
* Hybrid working in Ashford, Kent (4 days per week in the office, 1 day working from home)
* Occasional travel to client sites
