Qualified SEN Teaching Assistant
Full-time Position | Start Date: ASAP
Location: Twickenham, Richmond
Salary: £100-£120 per day

We are excited to announce an excellent opportunity for a caring, enthusiastic, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Twickenham, Richmond. This is a full-time position starting immediately, ideal for an individual who is passionate about supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to provide individualised support for students across Key Stages 2, 3, 4, and further education. You will play a key role in promoting learning, communication, and independence for pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their personal goals in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of pupils with ASD, MLD, and SLCN.

Provide one-to-one and small group support, using tailored strategies to enhance understanding, communication, and confidence.

Implement structured interventions and use visual aids, communication systems, and sensory strategies to support learning and engagement.

Use effective behaviour management techniques to maintain a positive, inclusive, and calm learning environment.

Monitor and record pupil progress, sharing feedback with teachers, the SENCo, and parents or carers.

Encourage pupils to develop independence, social interaction skills, and resilience in and out of the classroom.

Support with personal care needs and ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils at all times.

Participate in school activities, educational visits, and supervision duties as required.

About You:

Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly ASD, MLD, or SLCN.

A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students with varying abilities and needs.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

A proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Knowledge of communication aids or alternative teaching strategies is advantageous.

A commitment to promoting inclusion, well-being, and safeguarding for all pupils.

Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
