Family Support Worker (Early Help)

About the role:
This role involves direct interventions with children, young people and their families to provide a range of assistance and support them to achieve their family goals. This includes supporting complex situations providing interventions to those who have experienced trauma and abuse.
About you:
1. Committed to the development of practice and services which promote equality
2. Capacity to work calmly and effectively with young people with significant issues, including an ability to promote the views of children and young people and work in a holistic manner.
3. Understanding of how children’s complex life experiences can impact on their ability to form relationships and interact with others.
4. Excellent communication skills both written and orally including the ability to communicate with children young people and their families and/or carers and families in an appropriate manner
5. Ability to organise, prioritise and manage work, including completing write case recordings
6. The ability to facilitate group work
What you will do:
- Build positive working relationship with children, young people and their families and work from a child-centred, rights based approach
- Undertake direct work with children, young people and their families or carers, by using a variety of evidence- based models, methods and tools
- Support families in crisis with the aim of maintaining the family unit and keeping families together. Utilising appropriate models and methods to support practice and promote effective and sustained changes
- Facilitate a range of group work, to children, young people and families for example, evidence based Parenting Courses for parents who need some extra help
- Work closely with professionals, and partner agencies, to establish excellent working relationships and meet the needs of children, young people and their families.
